Dropping the A-Bomb

If I had a blog I think this rant would have probably been posted there. Seeing as I don't, I decided to set up a new domain dedicated to it instead.

What's the problem?

So what is my beef with AJAX? It may suprise you to hear that I have none. Why then have I gone to the considerable effort of building this site? Simple... this site is a helpline. A helpline to all the frustrated web designers/developers out there that are sick of jumped-up project managers and marketeers talking nonsense. What is their obsession with the word AJAX. Why can't a meeting go past without someone dropping the A-Bomb...

"Yeah, yeah! That's exactly what we are after... but it needs to be a bit more AJAXY?" "I like it but... I dunno, could you AJAX it up a bit?" "What are the chances of injecting some ajaxification?" *

What the hell are they talking about? Why is it that anything moving or interactive on a website has to be branded with the latest buzz word... AJAX, AJAX, AJAX. Truth be told 95% of the time this is not AJAX it is plain old javascript. I appreciate that javascript doesn't sound so cool, and probably isn't going to get you laid or impress your old school chums at the class of 1990 reunion but at least it's an accurate description.

F * * K Marketeers, F * * K Buzz words, F * * k A*JAX.

* I might have made this one up.
